2020 CSHP Branch Awards recognize significant contributions to the hospital pharmacy profession

Several HealthPRO members were recently recognized by the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP)’s award programs. Presented annually, these awards recognize hospital pharmacists who have made a significant contribution to the field of pharmacy.


Saskatchewan Branch 2020 Awards

On November 17th, at this year’s CSHP Saskatchewan Branch Annual General Meeting, Cathy Coote, a long-standing member of HealthPRO’s Pharmacy Advisory Committee, and Business Administration & Inventory Systems Manager, Saskatoon Health Region, as well as Margo Derksen, a member of the HealthPRO Drug Shortage Committee, and Drug Shortages Pharmacist, Saskatchewan Health Authority, were awarded the Saskatchewan Branch CSHP Merit Award.

The Merit Award was presented to Cathy and Margo for their tremendous work developing communication tools regarding drug shortages throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As a Branch we are incredibly lucky to be able to continue to recognize the work being done across Saskatchewan hospital pharmacies, and HealthPRO's sponsorship allows us to continue to do that,” said Steven Kary, Awards Chair, CSHP Saskatchewan Branch, and Clinical Instructor, University of Saskatchewan.

“We want to congratulate Cathy and Margo on this outstanding accomplishment. We are so proud to have them as active HealthPRO members and look forward to building on this important work related to drug shortages with them both,” said Christine Donaldson, Vice President, Pharmacy, HealthPRO.

Ontario Branch 2020 Awards

On November 26th, at the CSHP Ontario Branch’s virtual awards banquet, Mark Pasetka, Oncology Pharmacy Clinical Practice Lead, Odette Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, was awarded the Artemis Diamantouros Mentorship Award. Mark was recognized for his ongoing contributions as a teacher and mentor to Year One residents at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Additionally, Flay Charbonneau, one of HealthPRO’s Pharmacy Advisory Committee members, and Pharmacy Manager for the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, was awarded the Dan Dasko Pharmacy Administrator Award for her leadership and innovative approach to hospital pharmacy practice.
