Supporting sustainable procurement decisions

HealthPRO is committed to working in collaboration with our suppliers to improve the ethical sourcing of PPE and all products used in our healthcare system.

Since 2019, within our contracts, we have taken steps to help promote sustainable and ethical sourcing practices. HealthPRO’s contracting process evaluates whether suppliers adhere to the ISO20400 guidance document which offers practical guidance for suppliers to promote safe and secure working environments, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. If they do not, we require suppliers to provide a copy of their Sustainable Procurement Policy.

Over the course of HealthPRO's 2021 fiscal year (April 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022), HealthPRO will be adding additional rigour to the sustainability questions asked in our Requests for Proposals (RFPs). We will engage with our member and supplier stakeholders to ensure we are asking the right questions and evaluating those questions appropriately.

The evaluation results will be provided in our Decision Support toolkits so that where Supplier Selections are required, members have the ability to make a more informed selection. Additional information will be shared in June of 2021.
