Highlights from HealthPRO Canada's Interim President and CEO, Christine Donaldson's Remarks
On June 26th, HealthPRO Canada held its 27th Annual General Meeting. Under the theme, Forward Together: The Ambition and Action to Advance Canadian Healthcare, our Interim President and CEO, Christine Donaldson reflected on the past year and celebrated the shared successes of working together with our valued Suppliers and Members, including:
- Split Awards Contracts helped ensure secondary source of critical hospital-specific injectables – mitigating 96% of disruptions in cancer drugs and 88% of disruptions overall
- Hosted our Second Annual Sustainability Rounds and launched the third iteration of our Sustainability Scorecard and tools to help Members make more informed and sustainable product choices
- Launched our Innovation Accelerator Program to help bridge the gap between Members and Suppliers to foster innovation that will lead to healthier outcomes or efficiencies across the continuum of care, and importantly, connecting Supplier innovations to our network of 1,300 healthcare facilities.
- In November, qualified Suppliers will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions to clinical and procurement decision-makers across the country at our National Trade Show.
- Over the last year, we evaluated and awarded over 1,000 contracts, collaborated on resolving 273 product concerns and returned $62 million dollars to hospitals across the country that they can reinvest in frontline patient care.
Christine also shared highlights of HealthPRO’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan and some of the key actions we’re tackling to accelerate your success over the coming year:
1. Pursuing World-Class Procurement:
- Introducing negotiated RFPs and more flexible terms in certain contract categories
- Driving opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the duration of your contract with HealthPRO Canada; benchmarks in key categories are being established such as time to resolve supply disruptions, product concerns, member earned dividends, and volume trends all designed to track, measure, and enhance Supplier success
2. Driving Insights from Data:
- NEW Supplier portal in the Fall of 2023 promises to deliver efficiencies and helpful resources, such as access key insights, best practices and access to all RFx documents. (scan this QR code to complete a brief survey and share your input)
3. Igniting Stakeholder Networks:
- We are committed to working with our global, national and regional networks to break down silos, elevate and unify our voices for system change.
- As one example, we are developing a Healthcare Procurement Crisis Playbook in collaboration with Members, Suppliers, government and global partners to address future disaster planning, communication protocols, and contracting practices to mitigate the impacts of disasters and supply chain disruptions.
We also unveiled our new brand identity as HealthPRO Canada – a testament to our national scope and scale which are fundamental in delivering on our collective ambitions.
