Island Health expands virtual care reach palliative patients

In 2019, Island Health piloted British Columbia’s first Virtual Palliative Supportive Care (VPSC) program, in Port Hardy. One patient, Wayne Green, moved to Port Hardy after nearly a year in Victoria General hospital recovering from a complicated surgery for a disease affecting his spine.
