Every year, the third week in October is designated as National Infection Control Week (NICW) in Canada and the United States. In Canada, Infection Control Week originated in 1988 to highlight infection control efforts in Canadian hospitals, long-term care facilities, and in the community.

As part of HealthPRO’s ongoing recognition of Infection Prevention and Control initiatives in Canada, we sat down with Katherine Ives, HealthPRO’s Clinical Advisor for Wound Care and Allied Health/IPAC to chat about her more than 17 years as Registered Nurse and seven years working in infection prevention and control and to highlight the importance of proper IPAC behaviours to ensure positive patient outcomes.
