From Innovation to Adoption: Highlights from HealthPRO Canada's Inaugural Healthcare Innovation Den
The inaugural Healthcare Innovation Den brought together six Canadian innovators, healthcare leaders, and government representatives to showcase solutions addressing three of healthcare's most pressing challenges: access to care, hospital capacity and patient flow, and cost optimization.
Judged by Arlene Dickinson, Dr. Matthew Bromwich, and Ron Johnson, the event demonstrated the strength of Canadian innovation and the importance of creating pathways that help proven solutions move beyond pilot projects and into healthcare organizations across the country.
Congratulations to this year's winners
- H.A.L.O. Telemonitoring – Cost Optimization and Utilization

Each winner received a $10,000 award, presented by the Honourable Stephen Crawford, Ontario's Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, underscoring the importance of accelerating Canadian healthcare innovation and supporting pathways to adoption across the healthcare system. The awards were made possible through the generous support of HealthPRO Canada's Strategic Prize Contributor, Sandoz, and Innovation Supporters Accord, AssistIQ, BD, BOMImed, Dafco Filtration Group, Fresenius Kabi, Healthcare Celltrion, Hikma, STERIS, and Sterinova.
Beyond the Competition
The Healthcare Innovation Den is more than a pitch competition. It reflects HealthPRO Canada's commitment to helping commercially ready Canadian innovations move from promising ideas to procurement and adoption.
A key part of that commitment is the National Healthcare Innovation Council, which brings together healthcare leaders, procurement experts, innovators, and industry partners to identify and address the barriers that prevent proven innovations from scaling across Canada's healthcare system. Working together, the Council is helping create practical pathways that accelerate adoption and ensure innovative solutions reach the healthcare organizations, providers, and patients who need them most.
As part of this commitment, this year's winning innovators will be prioritized for participation in HealthPRO Canada's Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP), where HealthPRO Canada works with innovators to explore procurement pathways and connect them with healthcare organizations across Canada.
As Christine Donaldson, President and CEO of HealthPRO Canada, noted:
"We need to build a healthcare system capable of scaling innovation faster. Canada does not lack innovation. What we often lack are the pathways to scale innovation across the country and integrate it into care delivery. Innovation only creates value when it reaches the healthcare organizations, providers, and patients who need it most."
