British Columbia and Alberta jointly select HealthPRO as their GPO
The British Columbia Health Authority Shared Services Organization (SSO) and Alberta
Health Services (AHS) have both announced their decision to engage HealthPRO to
provide them with health system supplies and services. Following a successful SSO
Request for Proposal process for a GPO, it was recognized that cost savings could be
even greater if BC combined its volumes with Alberta.
This means that, effective immediately, HealthPRO will provide group purchasing
services to the health authorities of both provinces. It is anticipated that the combined
contract volumes will range from $750 million to $1 billion.
“This joint agreement signals a new era of strategic collaboration and an innovative
way to reduce costs on our health care supplies and services,” says Doug Kent, Vice

Health Services through HealthPRO, will generate savings which can be reinvested
into direct patient care.”
