We are pleased to report completion of another very successful round of contract awards across our Clinical Services, Clinical Specialties and Special Services categories. 

Average savings of 17.8% were achieved for Clinical Services and Clinical Specialty contracts while Special Services contract savings averaged 5.8%.

These considerable savings reflect HealthPRO’s ability to foster increased supplier competition through the magnitude of our national volumes.  A good example is our recent contract for face masks. The contract attracted great interest from the supplier community as it represented an opportunity to gain significant market share.  The contract award went to priMED, a Canadian-based company who committed to deliver an innovative, high-quality product at 47% savings over the previous contract.

Savings are important, but product quality and safety drive contract decisions. As part of HealthPRO’s regular process, all products on market are rigorously scrutinized and evaluated by a clinical advisory committee made up of clinical users from member facilities across the country.  Trish Cooper, Clinical Advisor, says that PriMED’s mask products passed the test with “flying colours”, adding: “From the mask construction to its labeling, priMED's passion for the quality of its protective apparel is clear.”

“We were also very pleased to be able to drive savings in our Special Service Contracts,” says Paul Weingartner, Director, Special Services and Energy Management. “Particularly in our hand care program and general lab consumables – categories where there is often little room for negotiation. This is another example of how our increasing volumes are allowing us to negotiate great value for our members.”
